GLM-5.3 Takes the Top Spot | Tabbit Model Popularity Ranking, Issue 2

GLM-5.3 Takes the Top Spot | Tabbit Model Popularity Ranking, Issue 2

✦ GLM-5.3 claims the crown

The biggest move at the top of last week's Tabbit Model Popularity Ranking came from Zhipu's GLM-5.3. The model launched on Tabbit on August 14; in its first week (only 3 days of usage counted) it broke into the top five, and last week it climbed another 4 places to officially take the top spot.

Zhipu says GLM-5.3 shares the exact same base model as GLM-5.2, and that the gains come entirely from aggressive post-training scaling that pushes the model's intelligence ceiling significantly higher. According to their published data, GLM-5.3 improves noticeably across several public benchmarks, with very substantial progress on complex software engineering, terminal operations, and a broader range of real-world agent tasks. Its rapid ascent up the weekly ranking is a clear signal that users recognize the capability jump.

✦ DeepSeek launches V4-Flash-Vision-Exp

DeepSeek released the multimodal visual understanding model DeepSeek-V4-Flash-Vision-Exp last week, and Tabbit integrated and shipped it the same day, landing it at No. 6 on the weekly ranking in its debut week.

The team says that compared with the stable DeepSeek-V4-Flash, this new multimodal model matches it on pure text while taking a big leap on agent benchmarks that require visual understanding, bringing its multimodal agent capability close to Opus-4.8. Adding multimodal perception also unlocks more room for the model in agent scenarios. The "vision without losing text" path it took is a key reason it drew users in quickly and carved out a spot on the ranking.

✦ The top five holds its shape

The top five continues to be locked up by three companies — Zhipu, DeepSeek, and Alibaba:

▸ DeepSeek-V4-Pro and Qwen3.8-Max each drop 1 place, sitting at No. 2 and No. 3;

▸ GLM-5.2 and DeepSeek-V4-Flash hold at No. 4 and No. 5.

The user bases behind the leading vendors' models stay relatively stable, but the exact order still shifts with each company's release cadence.
